Weeks Open Season at Home

September 16-The Weeks Major Midgets worked hard but fell just shy of taking their home opener from the Cole Harbour Wolfpack.  Oliver Schnare got the home crowd cheering when he picked up a pass from Blake Kontuk and five-holed it short-handed with 3:20 left in the first.  Cole Harbour responded a minute later to tie the game going into the second.  Hunter Martin rifled a shot and brought Weeks ahead by a goal almost halfway through the second with the help of Wayne Denny, and Blake Kontuk who racked up his second assist of the night.  The Wolfpack again answered with a goal of their own, but Ben Williams scored his first Major Midget regular season goal with 4:10 left to go in the second and gave Weeks the lead going into the third.  The third period was a spirited battle, but the Wolfpack put two more on the scoreboard and took the game.  Ben Gibbon played a strong Major Midget debut and stopped 34 of 38 shots.

September 17-The Weeks traveled on Sunday to meet the Halifax Macs on their home ice and left with a 4-1 loss.  The Macs were up by one goal by the end of the first, but Ryan MacLennan sailed a pass from Scott Long past the Macs net minder to even the score at 12:40 in the second.  Halifax pulled ahead by a goal shortly after, leading Weeks 2-1 going into the third.  The Weeks worked hard in the third, but the Macs left with two more before the final buzzer.  Ben Gibbon was solid and stopped 39 of 43 shots.
