WEEKS GO 1-1 IN THANKSGIVING WEEKEND PLAY

WEEKS GO 1-0 IN THANKSGIVING WEEKEND PLAY

Saturday October 8
The Weeks Major Midgets hosted the Steele Subaru Major Midgets this Saturday  and drove the net for a 4-2 win. Rowan Sears pounded one in the corner for his first of the night less than 5 minutes into the first period assisted by Carson Lanceleve and Hunter Martin.  Ben Fraser followed it up just past the halfway mark with his first NSMMHL goal with Marc Aucoin and Ben Williams setting him up. Dartmouth netted one of their own on a power play early in the second and both teams battled hard to keep it a tie game going into the third.  Steele Subaru broke even on a shot around the 18 minute mark of the third, but the Lanceleve-Sears-Martin line found the back of the net twice more with Sears sliding a pass from Martin and Lanceleve five-hole and Martin firing the puck like it came out of a particle accelerator from the point on a power play with a minute and a half left.  Andrew MacLeod was a brick wall between the pipes and kept 39 shots out of harm's way. Sears sported the hard hat home for his outstanding offensive play.

Sunday, October 9
The Weeks Major Midgets travelled to Halifax on Sunday to face the Halifax Macs and despite a strong effort and great teamwork, were inched out of a win by a score of 3-2. Mason Hawley marched in the Macs' back door unannounced and lit up The Forum's scoreboard early in the first unassisted.  Halifax sailed one in soon after to tie the game. The Weeks started the second period short handed, but that didn't stop Ben Williams from five-holing the puck all by his lonesome to give the Weeks the lead again.  The Macs evened the score with 3:26 left in the second.  Both teams came out strong for the third, but a power play goal for the Macs with less than 3 minutes left took the game. MacLeod was once again a force field in the net and denied the Macs 47 of 50 shots.

Weeks will travel to Lunenburg next weekend where the South Shore Mustangs will host them for two in a row.
