The Weeks Major Midgets played host to the Valley Wildcats and the Halifax Macs at the Pictou County Wellness Center this past weekend.
Saturday brought the Weeks to a shootout with the Wildcats when Rowan Sears capitalized on a power play and netted a pass from Callum Bouma and Hunter Martin with less than a minute to go in the 2nd to tie the game. Carson Lanceleve slid one past the Valley goaltender in shootout action, but the Wildcats clawed 3 past Andrew MacLeod to take 2 points and inch just ahead of Weeks in the standings. MacLeod stopped 31 shots in regulation play to keep the Weeks in the running.
Sunday saw the Weeks work hard but drop a 6-0 game to the top-seeded Halifax Macs. Ben Gibbon and MacLeod shared the duties in nets for the loss.
The Weeks will travel to Berwick this weekend and attempt to declaw the Valley Wildcats and claim 4th place in the league standings.
