WEEKS WIN BIG AT HOME

The Weeks Major Midgets played one game  this weekend and made it count by defeating the Cape Breton Unionized Tradesmen in a decisive 7-2 victory on November 5.

Connor MacLeod started the puck rolling when he slid one under the Tradesmen's goalie pads in the first five minutes of the game to take an early lead with Rowan Sears adding the assist.  Carson Lanceleve did the same just five minutes into the second to double the Weeks' lead on a beauty pass from Callum Bouma. Colin MacGillivray nailed the top right shelf with the the help of Oliver Schnare and Wayne Denny soon after, followed by Justin Hardie five-holing a set-up from Lanceleve and Sears to light the scoreboard up for the fourth goal of the game. The Tradesmen responded with a bounce past Andrew MacLeod on a power play, but Hunter Martin snagged a breakaway pass from Mason Hawley and sailed it past the crease to end the third and give Weeks a 5-1 lead heading into the third. Early in the third, Ben Williams dangled the puck around the Cape Breton net minder and lit up the scoreboard again with Ben Fraser and Marc Aucoin adding assists to broaden the gap by one more, then set up Aucoin with the help of Fraser on their next shift to bring the Weeks to their highest scoring game so far this season. The Tradesmen snapped another around the 8 minute mark, but MacLeod shut the door and stopped a total of 42 shots to keep Weeks ahead. Lucas Fabianjic out-hustled every Tradesmen every period and took the hard hat in the dressing room for his strong defensive and hard hitting game.

Weeks travel to Port Hood to square off against the Cape Breton West Islanders for the first time this season next Saturday November 11, then host the Cole Harbour Pro Hockey Life Wolfpack Sunday November 12 at the Pictou County Wellness Center.
