Evan MacLennan Named Assistant Coach of Weeks Major Midgets

NEW GLASGOW, NOVA SCOTIA - The Weeks Major Midgets of the Nova Scotia Eastlink Major Midget Hockey League, announced an addition to the coaching staff today. Evan MacLennan of New Glasgow has been named an assistant coach.

MacLennan will join the staff, effective immediately as they prepare for the 2019 Training Camp, set to open August 15th. MacLennan has played with the Weeks Hockey Organization for the past six seasons, serving as Captain of the Weeks Major Midgets in 2014-15, and most recently as the Weeks Jr. A Crushers Captain in 2018-19. MacLennan’s experience playing in Pictou County and his involvement as a community leader during the past number of years promises to be a great asset to the program.

MacLennan looks forward to the opportunity ahead of him. “ I’m very excited for my new role with the Weeks Major Midgets. I wanted to stay involved with the game I’ve loved for so long, and helping other players achieve success both on and off of the ice is a perfect way to do that. I believe my leadership and recent playing experience can provide the players with a unique perspective throughout the season”

Team President, Anthony Conway is delighted to add MacLennan to the staff for the upcoming season. “ We are extremely pleased to have Evan joining our staff. Evan is a true leader having served as Captain for both our Major Midget and Junior A programs. He has been a key part of our group as a player for the past 6 seasons and his transition to the coaching staff is a natural progression in his desire to continue in hockey.”

Head Coach and General Manager, Kyle MacLennan believes Evan will bring a lot to the Weeks Major Midgets hockey program.

“Evan has matured into an exceptional leader over the past few years and his work ethic rubs off on everyone around him. We will look to Evan to have great communication with the players and help with their development, from a perspective of a player fresh out of the game. We believe that he will have a profound impact on our players and our program.”
